Weinkein Memorial Trophy
The Lone Star Borzoi Club organized efforts for the creation of a perpetual trophy for the Region 4 ASFA Invitational in memory of Susan Weinkein (Ravenwolf Borzoi). This trophy will be awarded to the highest (qualifying) score borzoi at the regional event who is also an AKC conformation champion.
Funds were raised from throughout the lure coursing community and dog fanciers. The generosity of contributors towards this trophy was wonderful! We can't thank you enough!
LSBC member Lynn Wall created an unforgettable piece in bronze, titled "Waiting For You" with a proud Borzoi looking skyward to the heavens.
The Weinkein Perpetual Memorial Trophy was first awarded at the 2005 Region IV ASFA Invitationals held at WindyGlen in Boswell, OK. The inaugural recipient was Ch. Svoras Stonehenge, FCh; Breeder/owner Shirley McFadden.

Susan
Weinkein will be deeply missed by LSBC. Susan possessed many
years of experience in Borzoi and was dedicated to the sport
of lure coursing. She was a hard working member of the American
Sighthound Field Association, having served on the Board of
Directors in many capacities - from Regional Director to President,
and was the first woman to hold the office of President of ASFA.
Susan was always willing to share her experience and knowledge
with others in the most positive of ways and was the personification
of good sportsmanship. Her most recent courser was "Flyte",
Ravenwolf's Midsummer Flyte, LCM2, who won Best of Breed at
the 2002 BCOA National Specialty and was the first recipient
of the Locket Trophy at the 2002 ASFA International Invitational,
winning Best of Breed at the Saturday event.
